"Il Sentiero Degli Dei (the path of the gods) is one of the most beautiful and famous hiking trails on the Mediterranean coast for its magnificent Sky Line between Bomerano and Nacelle, a small town located above the Amalfi coast, a famous stretch of coast south of Sorrento.
This incredible route, where the ridges of the Lattari mountains slide and sink into the blue of the sea towards the island of Capri, still tells its crowds and its legends to the people who live there and to the walkers.
The name of this beautiful trail derives from Greek mythology and the story of the meeting between Ulysses and the sirens.
Legend places the mermaids' original islands as Li Galli, the small archipelago just west of Positano. Throughout the story, Ulysses had his men tie him to the mast of the ship while his crew muffled their ears so they wouldn't hear the fateful siren song. The Olympian gods flew to Earth to prevent their favorite from becoming a shipwreck. But they landed a good way east and, in their haste to save Odysseus, set foot on what was then a pristine and gentle coastline, leaving in their wake the cliffs and the beautiful landscape that we now call the Amalfi Coast.

Legends aside, there is plenty of historical evidence that tells us that many Grand Tour travelers (Goethe, Lenormant, Mendelsson, Wagner .. and many others) knew of the Path of God, praising its magnificent scenery.
